The Rick Jackson Campaign for Governor recently announced the premiere of “The Audition,” a new short documentary on Keisha Lance Bottoms' single term as Mayor of Atlanta.

The documentary comes one week before the end of early voting and Election Day, November 3.

What is the short documentary about? Told in five chapters and built around Bottoms' own words, "The Audition" revisits the summer of 2020, when Atlanta suffered its deadliest year since 1996.

During 2020, officers left the police force by the hundreds, and Bottoms’ tenure was plagued with controversy, including the taxpayer-funded limousine rides and first-class travel in her first months in office.

Her tenure also suffered from her larger ambitions while Atlanta was in crisis, and the July 4, 2020 killing of 8-year-old Secoriea Turner at an armed street blockade that police had planned to clear weeks earlier.

How does the documentary conclude? The film ends where her time as Mayor did: her May 2021 announcement that she would not seek a second term, a decision she said was “based on what was best for me personally,” and her own later admission that “the voters of Atlanta really didn't need to defeat me. I had already defeated myself.”

What the Rick Jackson Campaign had to say:

  • Via Campaign Spokesman Garrison Douglas: “Keisha Lance Bottoms is asking Georgians for a promotion, and 'The Audition' is her tape. It shows a city that suffered its deadliest year since the 1990s, a police force that lost hundreds of officers, an 8-year-old girl killed on a street her administration let armed men hold for weeks, and a Mayor who quit after one term because it was, in her own words, what was best for her personally. Rick Jackson has spent his life running toward problems, while Keisha Lance Bottoms ran from the ones she created. She failed Atlanta, and Georgia cannot afford the sequel.”
  • Via their Official X: "Keisha’s excess, corruption, incompetence, and dereliction ran Atlanta into the ground. She failed her audition to lead all of Georgia. Watch the whole shocking story and see for yourself."
