Google has shared it will change its maps to reflect President Donald Trump's (R) executive order, renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America." Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is celebrating Google's decision just weeks after she introduced legislation to make President Trump's executive order irreversible.

But Congress must pass my bill officially changing its name so that a future America last admin doesn’t change it back! pic.twitter.com/IOOyJNRdT6

"Google has changed its maps to call the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of AMERICA after President Trump’s executive orders. But Congress must pass my bill officially changing its name so that a future America last admin doesn’t change it back!" said Rep. Greene.
Before President Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States (and the only the second president to serve non-consecutive terms), Rep. Greene introduced the Gulf of America Act.
Reinforcing Trump's executive order, Rep. Greene's bill requires that upon passage, government records, laws, maps, documents, papers, or any other regulation must make the change from Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America. Moreover, the legislation grants federal agencies 180 days to facilitate this change after the bill's enactment.
Greene released the following statement upon introducing her bill in early January:
"Mexican cartels currently use the Gulf of Mexico to traffic humans, drugs, weapons, and God knows what else while the Mexican government allows them to do it. The American people are footing the bill to protect and secure the maritime waterways for commerce to be conducted. Our U.S. armed forces protect the area from any military threats from foreign countries.
It’s our gulf. The rightful name is the Gulf of America and it’s what the entire world should refer to it as. Immediately following President Trump’s announcement, I directed my staff to get the bill drafted. I submitted the bill this afternoon with 14 original cosponsors.
My bill directs the Chairman of the Board on Geographic Names under the Secretary of the Interior to rename all federal documents and maps within 180 days of being signed into law. Congress has to take the Trump Agenda mandate seriously and that means acting fast to enact it.
This is a piece of Day 1 legislation that can easily be awaiting President Trump’s signature the moment he takes his oath of office. I urge my colleagues to join me to quickly pass this bill."
