According to a new poll from Insider Advantage, Georgia’s Senate Race is tightening up as Representative Mike Collins (R-GA) gains support against Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA).
What do the numbers show? The new poll shows Sen. Ossoff with 50% and Rep. Collins with 43%. In July, the Senator’s support was 6% higher, which could mean two different things.
First, it’s possible that as the general election gets closer, more people change their preferences.
Second, Sen. Ossoff is genuinely losing support as Rep. Collins increases his campaign activity.
Statement from the National Republican Senatorial Committee:
The NRSC issued a statement on this new poll through Press Secretary Nick Puglia, who slammed the Georgia Senator for using Georgia to fulfill his “political ambitions.”
He stated:
- "All the money in the world won't change Jon Ossoff's record of supporting open borders, higher taxes, and men in women's sports. While Ossoff uses Georgia as a platform for his political ambitions, Mike Collins is running to win."
What kind of activity have we seen from the Ossoff for Georgia Campaign? So far, the Senator’s campaign has focused on maintaining a heavy media presence.
In the month of August alone, the campaign has released a press release for nearly every day. These releases either highlight an accomplishment from the Senator, or a problem facing the Collins Campaign.
The Senator’s Campaign has also focused on organizing a smaller number of rallies, but with larger crowds so as to emphasize the scale of their support. An example of this occurred last week, in which a rally held in Atlanta drew a crowd of 1,600.
What kind of activity have we seen from the Collins for Georgia Campaign? So far, the Representative’s campaign has implemented a strategy in the opposite direction, focusing on a heavy ground presence and a low media presence.
The Campaign hasn’t issued a press release since July 15, despite a number of developments concerning Rep. Collins and Sen. Ossoff.
On the other hand, Rep. Collins has been all over Georgia several times over, meeting voters in person. In August alone, the Representative visited both Savannah and Moultrie within a matter of days, meeting with different voter groups.
