Representative David Scott (D-GA13) passed away after 23 years as a congressman and 50 years in total representing the people of Georgia. He began his long career as a representative in the Georgia House in 1975 and then joined the Georgia Senate in 1983.

His congressional tenure began in 2003, after Georgia gained an additional congressional district, and he secured reelection ten times.

Rep. Scott’s staff announced his passing in a statement expressing sorrow but also gratitude for the outpouring of support and love.
