Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) held a campaign rally over the weekend to raise support for his reelection to the U.S. Senate and unite with Democratic ally Keisha Lance Bottoms, who recently earned the nomination to run for Georgia Governor.

The event drew in over 1,500 supporters and united the two campaigns. Sen. Ossoff and Bottoms will now be tied together as they gear up for their respective races in November.

When speaking at the event, Sen. Ossoff fiercely criticized President Trump and the Republican Party. He first went after the President’s online activity and his recent lawsuit against the federal government.

Sen. Ossoff then went after his Republican opponents, Representative Mike Collins (R-GA) and political outsider Derek Dooley, for allegedly benefiting from and relying on their fathers’ success.

He stated, “So we're left with the congressman who's only a congressman because his daddy was a congressman and the coach, who's only a coach because his daddy was a coach.”

Republicans' Response

Republicans didn’t take this too lightly, lambasting the Senator for his record and unity with Bottoms. The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) went after the Senator for uniting with Bottoms, whom they labeled as an ‘extremist nutjob.'

NRSC Press Secretary Nick Puglia went further in an official statement in which he called both figures "radical" and too "extreme" for the State of Georgia.

He stated, "Jon Ossoff and Keisha Lance Bottoms are defund the police radicals who want to protect criminal illegals like Laken Riley's killer from deportation. The Ossoff-Bottoms agenda is too extreme for Georgia."

Rep. Collins responded to the criticism from Sen. Ossoff by accusing him of relying on his father's trust fund to get him where he is now.
