In an exclusive interview to the The Sun, U.S. Edition, Republican strategist Bryan E. Leib said the massive primary victory by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton proves one thing beyond doubt: President Donald Trump remains the unquestioned leader of today’s Republican Party. Following Paxton’s dominant win over longtime Senator John Cornyn, Leib argued that Republican voters are rallying behind candidates who fully embrace the America First movement and reject establishment politics.
“These were decisive victories fueled by grassroots Republican voters who want fighters that will support President Trump, not career politicians who drift toward the establishment,” Leib told The U.S. Sun. He described Paxton’s victory as part of a much larger national trend, pointing to recent Trump-backed wins across states like Kentucky, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Georgia as evidence that the MAGA movement continues gaining strength heading into the 2026 midterms.
Leib also pushed back strongly against claims that the Republican Party is headed toward a civil war. Instead, he argued the GOP is consolidating around Trump’s leadership and vision for the future. “The energy, enthusiasm, and momentum are with the America First movement,” Leib said, adding that Republicans are entering the midterms highly energized and positioned not only to defend their congressional majorities, but potentially expand them.
