Representatives Buddy Carter (R-GA01) and Andrew Clyde (R-GA09) celebrated the recent House passage of the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, also known as the Farm Bill.

The bill includes hard-fought wins and recognitions for Georgia farmers and was passed by a vote of 224-200.

The Farm Bill reauthorizes and improves programs administered by the Department of Agriculture through 2031.

It aims to strengthen commodity programs, crop insurance, and rural development tools that stabilize farm income and food supply chains.

It also supports farmers and agricultural producers who are currently struggling due to ongoing supply chain disruptions by updating and reauthorizing certain programs.

Statements

Both representatives issued statements, highlighting the significance of this legislation and the need to support America’s agricultural industry.

As a Georgia representative, Rep. Carter felt obligated to support this bill and championed two provisions specific to the state’s interests.

“Georgia’s agricultural industry is the backbone of our economy and way of life. Representing the number one state in which to do business, where agribusiness is our top industry, I strongly support the Farm Bill,” Rep. Carter stated.

He continued, “I proudly championed two provisions in this legislation, including a HIP-WI study to ensure the program properly protects farmers financially during disasters and the honoring of the late Abit Massey, a remarkable Georgia poultry giant, whose legacy should never be forgotten.”

Rep. Clyde saw this as an opportunity to correct years of neglect from Congress and proudly championed the bill all the way.

“After three years of Farm Bill extensions, Washington owes our farmers, ranchers, and producers the stability needed to continue feeding, clothing, and fueling our great nation,” Rep. Clyde stated.  “Therefore, I proudly voted for the 2026 Farm Bill to deliver the relief and support our farmers throughout Northeast Georgia and across America deserve.”

He continued. “From bolstering crop insurance and food security to investing in rural broadband and export programs, this legislation ensures American agriculture remains the greatest in the world.”
