Representative Brian Jack (R) is advocating for the passage of legislation to "remove bureaucracy from the parenting of children" by eliminating "woke, gender ideology" in schools.

Legislation require parental consent for the teaching of gender identities or LGBTQ+ themes in public schools has been advanced in the U.S. Congress previously, with the PROTECT Kids Act discussed this past legislative session. The act would require parental consent to change a student's gender identity or pronouns on school documents.

Another measure lawmakers are considering is the App Store Accountability Act, which would allow parents to decide what apps their children can download to their mobile devices.

Rep. Jack also accused Democrats of trying to remove parents from the decision-making process for their children, urging voters to remember that as the primary and midterm elections approach.

"One of the Democrat priorities is to, in my mind, remove parents from the decision-making as it relates to their children and insert bureaucrats into that process," said Rep. Jack when asked about supporting the App Store Accountability Act. "There's no better guardian of a child than one's parent."

Jack said that bureaucrats, in the form of school administrators and politicians, are trying to take over parents' responsibility for making decisions for their children.

"I think you'd find broad support across the conference in ensuring parental control of a child's future is maintained," Rep. Jack said, before adding that lawmakers are currently considering legislation on this topic.
