Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has called for the 25th Amendment to be used against President Donald Trump after a recent Truth Social post suggesting the destruction of Iranian civilization.

For context, President Trump has repeatedly expressed his frustration with the Iranian regime and their closing of the Strait of Hormuz amidst the ongoing war. It culminated this morning with the President warning Iran that “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death will finally end.”

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again," he wrote, which has generated bipartisan criticism.

This statement has shocked several of President Trump’s former allies, who now argue that the President has simply gone too far with his rhetoric. To them, the statement indicates a deterioration of his ability to lead, and they are now calling for his powers to be transferred.

Reactions

“We cannot kill an entire civilization. This is evil and madness,” the former Georgia representative wrote on X.

Alex Jones, the controversial commentator, echoed this sentiment, accusing the President of plotting to commit war crimes and genocide against the Iranian people.  Jones criticized President Trump for sounding like an “unhinged super villain,” and declared, “This IS NOT WHAT WE VOTED FOR!”

The responses come after recent divisions within the MAGA movement, involving the disassociation of figures like Jones and a complete schism with figures like former Rep. Greene.

Earlier this year, Greene resigned from office over her clash with the President and his calls to primary her. She also expressed frustration with the state of the Republican party and congressional inactivity.
