I’m Taking Over Substack

I’m a writer at heart, and when I graduated from Dartmouth in 1983 I went right into journalism. I began with articles in conservative and national publications, from National Review to the Washington Post. I wrote Opeds, short pieces, long pieces, and I loved it, because writing forces you to clarify your thoughts, and also carries them to an audience that you can share them with.

After my stint at the White House, I began my career as an author and speaker. In 2012, I began making documentary films. So far I’ve done eight, with a new one in the works called “United States of Islam.” Today I’m probably best known for those things. But at bottom, I’m still a journalist, but a journalist with a love of politics, of history, of philosophy, of Christian apologetics, and more recently, of biblical archaeology.

I’m excited about joining Substack, and using it as a foundation and frontline platform for my work. I’ve started a new weekly show DINESH, and each week I’m uploading my monologue on Substack. In some cases, I’ll do this even before I record it. And my Substack will also feature shorter commentaries, observations, quips and personal stories that are just for my Substack audience.

I’m undertaking some big projects this year, an archaeological investigative series “The Search for Noah’s Ark,” and also a forthcoming book and video series I’m launching this fall on the greatest discoveries of biblical archaeology. The book is called “The End of Time: Biblical Archaeology, Prophecy and the Last Days.” Very exciting stuff! You’ll get an advance peek into all of it on my Substack.

I’m also working on a series of videos on the greatest works of Western civilization. My first project: Dante’s “Divine Comedy.” These will be a collection of 15-20 ten minute video commentaries covering all three sections of Dante’s masterpiece—Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso–and cinematically illustrated by my D’Souza Media film team. For me, it’s a way to do what the schools and universities no longer do—convey the excitement and profundity of the classic philosophical, religious and literary texts of the West. And after Dante, what comes next? You can help me decide.

Each day, I come up with pithy ideas that are usually the result of conversations with my family: my wife Debbie, who is originally from Venezuela and very immersed in international politics; my daughter Danielle, who now does her own podcast and is a very savvy political strategist; and my son-in-law Brandon Gill, who is the youngest Congressman in the GOP, representing the northern suburbs of Dallas. Using both the written and video format, I’ll share the inside scoop from the D’Souza family with my Substack family.

For a long time, I didn’t know much about Substack, and Substack didn’t know much about me. But now, I’m coming aboard, and doing it “whole hog.” Please join me for what I can assure you will be a fascinating, illuminating, and enjoyable journey. I’m doing here what I started out to do, and I’m integrating everything I’ve learned and picked up along the way. Let’s go!
