The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has released an advertisement, blaming Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) for the ongoing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown.

The shutdown has caused chaos, with airports nationwide facing shortages of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers. In response, the NRSC is framing Sen. Ossoff as the responsible party.

The advertisement opens with long lines at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and intercom narration placing all responsibility on the Georgia Senator. The ad even features a billboard for viewers to see while they wait, with the quote "Long lines? You're welcome!" from Sen. Ossoff.

The narrator claims that because Sen. Ossoff has blocked funding for both the TSA and the Coast Guard, he’s placed Americans at risk.

Towards the end of the ad, the narrator reminds Georgians that they have a choice in the upcoming November midterm election. Voters are urged to remember who put their safety and travel at risk when they cast their vote.

In a statement, NRSC Press Secretary Nick Puglia issued scathing remarks for the Georgia senator.

“Jon Ossoff used Georgians as political pawns to give free healthcare to illegals, and now Ossoff is causing chaos at Atlanta airport and destroying TSA officers' livelihoods, all because he's mad that ICE is arresting criminal illegals," Puglia commented. "Georgians pay the price of Ossoff's radical agenda.”

Similar Criticism

Sen. Ossoff has faced similar criticism from Republican Senate candidates seeking to replace him.

The campaign team for Representative Mike Collins (R-GA10) posted on X, claiming that the senator is holding Americans "hostage" in an effort to protect illegal immigrants.

Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA01) similarly criticized both Ossoff and Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA), claiming they had turned their backs on Americans.
