The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently executed a search warrant on the election office of Fulton County, Georgia, in an attempt to gain records related to the 2020 presidential election.

FBI agents were seen securing the area and loading boxes from the main building into trucks. The boxes likely contained ballots, scanner tapes, electronic ballot images, and voter rolls.

An FBI spokesperson was asked about the search and confirmed that it had been authorized by the courts, but gave little detail. This search comes after years of President Donald Trump’s insistence that Fulton County was rife with election fraud in 2020.

The search is the most public acknowledgement by law enforcement that the President’s claims might have some truth to them. However, it has been met with mixed reception, with Democrats slamming it and Republicans praising it.

Reactions

First, Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA01) responded by siding with President Trump, stating that Georgians are set to receive long-overdue answers about 2020’s election cycle.

Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones (R-GA) took a different approach and heavily criticized the Fulton County office, claiming they ‘couldn’t run a bake sale.’

Across the aisle, Representative Nikema Williams (D-GA05) slammed the FBI’s search as an act of intimidation and political retaliation.

Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) heavily criticized the search as a continuation of the President’s ‘sore loser crusade,’ despite audits and independent reviews. He stated that this serves as another example of Trump spiraling out of control in his quest for power and revenge.
