The White House is promoting the latest Harris CAPS/Harris Poll, which shows that the majority of Americans surveyed want Democrats to end their government shutdown. The poll of 2,413 registered voters was conducted Oct 1-2, 2025.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt pushed out the poll on social media that called for Congressional Democrats to end their "Schumer Shutdown."

"It comes as service members and federal employees are set to miss their next paycheck, critical food assistance for low-income women and children is in dire jeopardy, states are staring down an economic catastrophe, and layoffs could be imminent — all because of Democrats’ sick push to give illegal aliens free health care," stated a WH press release.

NEW POLL: Americans Want Democrats to END Their Shutdown

70% oppose the government shutdown.

65% say Democrats should accept Republicans’ clean, nonpartisan continuing resolution.

55% say Democrats are “just trying to please their base.”

Democrats have placed the blame on Republicans because they control Congress and the White House, but it looks as if Democrats are really to blame. Senate Democrats are hung up on Affordable Care Act (ACA) aka, Obamacare, funding, but Republicans argue that Democrats want to see healthcare funding to benefit illegal immigrants or aliens.

"Democrats are holding the American government HOSTAGE so they can give FREE health care to ILLEGAL ALIENS," stated House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) recently accused House Republicans of a "refusal to negotiate," even though President Donald Trump as expressed his support for more ongoing negotiations.

“You have to work today to pay your bills, yet House Republicans took another week of vacation," Schultz expressed on social media. "Republicans refuse to negotiate a deal to open our government and cut healthcare costs while troops and essential public servants work without pay. Democrats are ready to work.”
