Representative Buddy Carter (R) has issued a statement fully endorsing President Donald Trump’s (R) federal takeover of Washington, D.C. After recounting his recent experience in the city, Carter is now fully convinced that sending in the troops is the most effective way to curb crime in major cities.
In his statement, He recalled arriving at Union Station in disbelief at how safe and clean it was without the overwhelming homelessness and criminal activity. It’s a mystery to him why Democrats, who have long controlled the city, have never thought to crack down on crime to this extent.
Violent crime is down 45%, carjackings are down 87%, and overall crime has fallen by 15% after just one month of the takeover.
Carter commented on the drop in crime, stating, “those aren’t just statistics. Those are lives being saved and improved thanks to the bold actions of this President to restore law and order in our nation’s capital.”
To reinforce how much better off the city is, the representative called back to the recent violence involving government workers. He referenced the two Israeli embassy workers who were murdered, the congressional intern who was shot and killed, and the DOGE staffer who was violently assaulted.
To Carter, this kind of crime is unthinkable and fully incapable of occurring now under the takeover.
He is now convinced that other major cities are ready for this kind of intervention, stating, “cities like Chicago, Baltimore, and New York are ripe for this kind of intervention. What shocks and disgusts me is seeing Democrat mayors and governors refuse to cooperate with this administration to protect their citizens.”
Concluding his statement, Carter recounted his experience as the Mayor of Pooler, Georgia, where he had a hand in maintaining public safety, citing that it gave him insight into what local leaders are capable of.
"Once again, promises made, promises kept," Carter noted, praising the President for ensuring public safety and keeping his campaign promises.
