Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) has made several statements on X, harshly criticizing the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Her opposition to AIPAC stems from its advocacy on behalf of Israel, as a lobby group that is not registered as a foreign agent.
Rep. Greene outlined this in her first statement, which included a picture of a sign hanging on her office door. The sign reads, “NO FOREIGN LOBBYING” and invokes the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
Rep. Greene went on to claim that she is one of the only members of Congress who doesn’t take money from AIPAC, and she slammed the group as exclusively representing the secular government of Israel.
The statement concludes, “While AIPAC is lying to their donors about me claiming I’m 'betraying my American values, ' the REALITY is AIPAC 1,000,000% serves and lobbies for a foreign country, Israel!! I’m as AMERICAN as they come! I can’t be bought and I’m not backing down!!”
Another part of Rep. Greene’s criticism of AIPAC is the idea that America faces too many unresolved domestic issues to continue to support Israel to the extent that it does.
In her second statement, she got this idea across in a sarcastic manner. She stated, “Good morning to everyone who is fed up with AIPAC, foreign aid and funding foreign wars, being enslaved in $37 trillion in debt, our dollar being weak, high cost of living, high cost of housing, property taxes, and H1B visas stealing American jobs.”
Rep. Greene’s third statement contained similar ideas and was posted alongside her appearance on former Congressman Matt Gaetz’s show.
She reiterated her belief that Israel doesn’t need so much support, stating, “Nuclear-armed Israel is not hurting, and they've already proven that they are more than capable of not only defending themselves, but annihilating their enemies to the point of genocide.”
In this appearance, she also discussed how her position has become stronger over time. It used to be ‘America First’ and now it's ‘America Only.’ After this, she encouraged AIPAC to continue the fight so that she could fight back even harder.
Rep. Greene concluded, “We’re $37 TRILLION in debt. I’m fighting for America’s future generations. AMERICA ONLY now.”
