According to an ongoing study from the Polarization Research Lab, Senator Jon Ossoff (D) has been named the most bipartisan member of Congress since August 2022.

This ranking is based on the work that Sen. Ossoff has done to collaborate and find common ground with the Republican Party. According to the study, 27.2% of Ossoff’s communication has been on bipartisan efforts.

For context, the Polarization Research Lab is a research group dedicated to applying science to the study of polarization and democracy. Their study categorizes the speech of congressional members into five different categories: personal attacks, policy criticism, policy discussion, accomplishments, and bipartisanship.

With this in mind, it is interesting to note that Sen. Ossoff also ranked first in the accomplishments category. Apparently, 51% of his communication focuses on the legislation he works on and the funding he secures for Georgia.

76.1% of Sen. Ossoff’s communication focused on policy discussion, a category in which he ranked fifth.

In response, Ossoff’s office celebrated the study in a press release listing his bipartisan work. Over a dozen bills are included, and most of them focus on different issues facing Georgians and the country as a whole.

Other Georgia representatives also received high rankings. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R)  ranked third in the personal attacks category. 11.2% of her communication focused on attacking or disrespecting people from the Democratic and Republican parties.

Rep. Andrew Clyde ranked fifth in the policy criticism category. He is frequently critical of policy without resorting to personal attacks, and that accounts for 54.4% of his communication.

Notably absent from any of the top five rankings is Senator Raphael Warnock (D). His communication is a diverse blend, and the highest he ranks in any category is 33rd in bipartisanship.

Other figures like Reps. Buddy Carter (R), Mike Collins (R), and Rich McCormick (R) are also absent. Upon looking at the data, their communication also resembles a fairly mixed blend.
