Georgia Republicans at both the federal and state levels united to support President Donald Trump’s military action against Iran. The Republican message has been uniform, praising the President’s decisiveness and commitment to strength.
Starting from the House, Rep. Rich McCormick (R) contrasted Trump with Former President Obama. He also highlighted how Iran had the opportunity to negotiate, but failed to capitalize.
McCormick stated, “President Trump gave Iran every opportunity to give up its nuclear ambitions. They are now very aware that this President will not be dropping pallets of cash to bribe them to stop developing nukes, we will be delivering ordinances that ensures they do.”
Representatives Buddy Carter (R) and Mike Collins (R) issued similar statements. They both praised the President and called for ‘peace through strength.’
Rep. Brian Jack (R) stated that he stands with the President and American troops stationed around the world. Rep. Andrew Clyde (R) simply stated, “God bless our troops. God bless President Trump. And God bless the United States of America.”
At the state level, Attorney General Chris Carr declared his support for the operation and the message that it sends.
Carr stated, “I support President Trump’s decisive action that sends a clear message: we stand with Israel, we will not tolerate threats to our national security, and aggression will be met swiftly and decisively.”
Lt. Gov. Burt Jones concurred with Rep. McCormick about how Iran brought this upon itself. He praised the President for pursuing ‘peace through strength.’
Jones concluded, “The world has grown accustomed to weakness from the White House during the past four years. No more. Once again, America says what it means and leads.
Finally, Gov. Brian Kemp issued two statements. He praised the President for the successful operation, and then discussed a call he had with other Governors and Homeland Secretary Kristi Noem.
According to Kemp, the call was over potential retaliation from Iran and coordination with the Department of Homeland Security. He concluded, “We are coordinating with law enforcement on all levels as we closely monitor any possible threats. May God continue to Bless our troops and first responders.”
