A new conflict between Israel and Iran has begun after Iran failed to reach a deal with the U.S. Israel launched a strike against Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities, ballistic missile sites, and its top military officials. Israel acted unilaterally and without U.S. involvement as part of Operation Rising Lion.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the strike to be a decisive moment in Israel's history. It was part of a complex operation that crippled Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure while targeting Iranian general staff. The operation has now expanded to include targets like the state television headquarters.
Israel took down two Major Generals and the commander of the Iranian air force. Several ballistic missile stockpiles and launch sites were also struck.
Before the strike, President Donald Trump stated his intention to continue negotiating with Iran. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) responded to this announcement by connecting it to the LA riots.
Greene responded, “The American people aren’t interested in foreign wars. They’re actually thrilled you’re sending in the National Guard to stop the Democrat-funded war against America.”
After the strike, Georgia Republicans in the House called for peace and warned Iran. Greene called for peace in the region and said that was her official position.
Rep. Rich McCormick (R) had a different take on the situation. He commented on how ill-advised it was for Iran to announce its intentions with its nuclear capabilities.
McCormick comments on how shortsighted it was for Iran to publicly refer to Israel and the U.S. as forms of Satan. He concluded, “This theocracy cannot be trusted with weapons that can start Armageddon. This is not political… it is survival.”
Rep. Buddy Carter (R) looked at the situation from a different angle. He talked about how Iran has been given many chances to cut a deal, and yet they have never come to the table. He also mentions how this could have prevented Israel from making any preemptive moves.
Carter states that the world simply cannot allow Iran to have a nuclear program. He concludes, “Biden and Obama allowed for an emboldened Iran, President Trump will ensure peace and stability.”
Finally, Rep. Mike Collins (R) put out a strong statement. He warned Iran that its existence is dependent on others simply tolerating it.
Collins stated, “Iran’s existence is contingent on its enemies’ tolerance. They should tread lightly. This administration kills terrorists.”
