Representative Mike Collins (R) has made water infrastructure and water projects a new priority. It has been a consistent focus of his and this is evident by how often he travels to view the issue firsthand. Collins makes it a point to personally meet with people when he travels as well.
Recently, Collins traveled to Houston, Texas to tour flood control projects along the Buffalo Bayou.
Collins commented on the experience on X. He stated, “Great touring flood control projects along Buffalo Bayou in Houston with the Army Corps, Harris County Flood Control, and (Rep Wesley Hunt’s) staff. Ensuring (the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) builds and maintains levees, reservoirs, and other tools to manage water efficiently and under budget is a top priority.”
Collins also managed to tour the Houston channel with Representative Brian Babin (R). Apparently the tour was meant to display how the government collaborates in projects with private entities.
Collins commented on this tour, “Thank you, (Rep. Brian Babin), the Houston Pilots, and (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) for tonight’s tour of the Houston Ship Channel. The partnership I saw today exemplifies how the government and private sector can work together to deliver for the American people.”
Continuing in Houston, Collins had a meeting with the CEO of the Port of Houston Authority. The meeting concerned economics and infrastructure.
Collins commented on X, “Just wrapped up a great meeting and tour with Port Houston CEO Charlie Jenkins. (Port of Houston Authority) is a great example of innovation in water infrastructure, and I’m excited to see their future growth and economic productivity.”
Finally, Collins attended a meeting with representatives from the ports of Houston and Galveston alongside private entities. Collins lauded the meeting as a great opportunity to discuss investment and innovation.
He stated on X, “Get folks into the room, take a look at the problems, and work towards solutions. I thank (Port of Houston Authority), (Port of Galveston Authority), dredgers, and other stakeholders for taking the time to talk about making water projects more efficient.”
