Georgia House Committee Passes Bills on Public Health, Medical Care Access, and Transgender Inmates
One committee of the Georgia House convened to address issues related to public health. A number of different resolutions concerning new committees were considered. New bills concerning medical procedures were also considered.
First, the House Public Community and Health Committee met to cover three new resolutions and two new bills. They began with Senate Bill (SB) 101.
SB 101 requires testing for duchenne muscular dystrophy to be included in the newborn screening system. The bill is meant to prevent more children from developing the disease. It passed to the Rules Committee.

Georgia Lawmakers React to Trump’s Sweeping New Wave of Tariffs: 'America is BACK'
President Trump’s recent announcement of reciprocal tariffs has made waves among political figures. These new tariffs apply to a large number of countries and are meant to put America’s economy first. Georgia lawmakers from both sides have commented on this new policy with either support or derision.
To start, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) expressed her support for the tariffs on X. Greene began by showing how many countries charge tariffs at double the rate of Trump’s new tariffs.
She concluded, “Will there be an adjustment? Yes. And then America will no longer be abused and paying for the rest of the world and in the long run we will be prosperous and wealthy again!”
