Georgia House of Representatives Passes Bills On Health, Agriculture, and Higher Education

The Georgia House was busy today passing a number of bills out of its committees. Major bills were passed by committees focused on public health, agricultural policy, and higher education. 

The first to convene was the House Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee. The first major bill on the agenda was Senate Bill (SB) 105. This bill would authorize licensed veterinarians and veterinary technicians to practice veterinary teleadvice.

New CBP 'Home' App Encourages Illegal Immigrants to Leave 'The Easy Way'

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), at President Donald Trump’s direction, has released a new Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) ‘Home’ Application. 

The CBP Home App is designed to facilitate illegal immigrants’ voluntary departure from the US. 

Illegal immigrants who voluntarily depart the US will still be eligible to return to the US through the standard legal immigration processes.

The notable ones concern motor vehicles, higher education, and family services. The House Motor Vehicle committee met to discuss three bills but only passed two. The first on the agenda, Senate Bill (SB) 160, had previously made it to the Rules Committee.

The legislation is known as the Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act of 2025. It would end upfront home purchasing costs via the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) for law enforcement, firefighters, medical first responders, and teachers.
