Sen. Scott expressed pride in endorsing Jackson, whom he considers to be a longtime friend and a "rock solid" conservative. He drew a parallel to his 2010 candidacy for the governorship of Florida, stating that he knew what it was like to be a political outsider.

Rick Jackson's New Ad
Shortly after this endorsement, the Jackson campaign released a new video advertisement, celebrating the impact of Jackson’s surprise candidacy and rallying support for the June 16th runoff election.
The ad features select quotes from Jackson’s election night speech and begins with the central declaration of his campaign. In the advertisement, he states, “I’m an outsider who’s going to shake things up.”
The second half of the ad features a slightly longer section of Jackson’s speech in which he appeals directly to voters. In the advertisement, he states, “This runoff is our chance to choose a servant leader over a self-serving politician.”
