Quantus Insights released a new poll in the race to win the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, and it shows political outsider Derek Dooley surging to 22.5%, up 14 percentage points from their last poll conducted in February.
At the same time, Representative Mike Collins (R-GA10) lost ground, dropping 3%. This new result is well outside the margin of error and secures Dooley’s position in one of the two run-off spots for the May 19th GOP primary.
According to Quantus Insights, “The movement story in the Senate race is Dooley. In Quantus’s February polling, Dooley stood at 9%, far behind Collins at 36%. By the late-April/early May survey, Dooley climbed to 22.5%.”
Responding to the poll, Dooley didn’t seem surprised and expected as much from Georgia voters looking for a change.
“This recent surge in the polls is not surprising to those who have been on the ground with us these last nine months,” commented Dooley. “Georgia voters are tired of the careerism, corruption, and inaction of typical DC politicians who forget about the people they were elected to serve.”
“As we approach May 19th, we will continue to campaign the old-fashioned way, county by county, voter by voter, to earn the trust of the Georgia people. I look forward to May 19th,” he continued.
Exclusive Comment
In an exclusive statement to Dome Politics, the Dooley for Georgia Spokesperson, Connor Whitney, weighed in on Dooley’s recent success.
“It’s not surprising that Corrupt Collins and Career Carter are stagnant in the polls, while political outsider Derek Dooley is surging,” stated Whitney. “Georgians don’t want to elect another typical politician who’s trying to boost their political career - they want someone who is focused on delivering results and putting them first.”
He continued, “It’s clear voters are putting their support behind a political outsider like Derek because they know he’s Republicans’ best shot at beating Ossoff and winning this seat back in November.”
The Dooley for Georgia campaign continues to build momentum with just 13 days to go until the May 19 Primary Election, and they don’t plan on slowing down.
The outsider candidate will be joined by Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA) as his Georgia First Tour continues to roll through the rest of the state. The final swing will culminate from May 13 - 15.
