Attorney General Chris Carr endorsed billionaire outsider Rick Jackson for Governor ahead of the June 16th runoff election. The endorsement comes one week after the primary election in which AG Carr ran for the gubernatorial nomination and placed fourth with 12% of the vote.
Jackson was the first to announce the endorsement and thanked the Attorney General for placing so much confidence in his campaign. Jackson then praised him for his leadership, stating that no one understands Georgia's needs better than AG Carr.
I’m humbled to have Attorney General @ChrisCarr_Ga's endorsement and grateful for his confidence in our campaign!
No one understands what our state needs to continue moving forward better than Chris. He’s been a great leader for Georgia, and his support means a great deal to… pic.twitter.com/G8BG8C84j9

AG Carr responded to the announcement and expressed pride in being able to support Jackson’s campaign. He stated that Jackson will build on the legacy of Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA), drawing on his background as a successful businessman and outsider candidate.
I’m proud to endorse our next Governor, @RickJacksonGA.
A successful businessman & political outsider, Rick will build on Brian Kemp’s legacy — creating jobs, backing law enforcement & looking after the best interests of all Georgians. https://t.co/elNbfoVSOo

Further Context
This endorsement should come as no surprise. Carr has fiercely criticized Jackson's rival, Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones (R-GA), for alleged corruption.
In fact, Carr filed a lawsuit against Lt. Gov. Jones in August 2025 over Jones's use of a special leadership committee that allowed Jones to raise an unlimited amount of campaign funding.
This lawsuit was ultimately dismissed for failing to show how this advantage violated Georgia’s Constitution. Carr was unconvinced and maintained his position that Lt. Gov. Jones is corrupt.
This took place before Jackson announced his candidacy, and Carr was counting on the success of this lawsuit to level the playing field as one of the only other contenders.
Lt. Gov. Jones will face off against Jackson for the Republican nomination for Governor on June 16th. Jones came out of the primary with a five-point lead, but polling has yet to reflect that result.
