To honor 250 years of American Independence and the sacrifices made by generations of American military members, Representative Mike Collins (R-GA10) recently introduced the 250 Years of Military Honor Package

This bipartisan legislative package recognizes those who have worn the uniform by establishing a Veterans Appreciation Month, the America 250 Military Appreciation Discount, and Veterans Tax Relief Weekends.

Rep. Collins stated that this was only a ‘small token’ of appreciation. According to him, what the American military has sacrificed can never truly be repaid, but recognition like this is absolutely warranted.

“The United States of America did not reach 250 years by accident. Our way of life and our freedoms have been defended by courageous and selfless service members every step of the way,” Rep. Collins stated.  “We have a responsibility to recognize those who have worn the uniform; they’ve made the past 250 years possible and are ensuring the next 250 years of freedom,” he continued.

“This is a small token of our appreciation for their service.”

Support for the Package

Rep. Collins built a strong bipartisan coalition for the 250 Years of Military Honor Package, with Representatives Sanford Bishop, Jr. (D-GA02), Clay Fuller (R-GA14), Derrick Van Orden (R-WI03), Brian Mast (R-FL21), Brian Babin (R-TX36), Morgan Luttrell (R-TX08), Wesley Hunt (R-TX38), and Jake Ellzey (R-TX06).

Newly elected Rep. Fuller has been a particularly strong advocate for this package, promoting it fervently on X. The congressmen also issued a statement relaying a deep sense of pride in being able to support the package and celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country.

“As a proud Northwest Georgian and Air Force veteran, I am honored to sign onto such important measures,” said Rep. Fuller. “As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our Nation, we should keep in mind that this special time is only possible because of our brave military members, veterans, and their families. They defend our Nation daily, and we should honor them at every opportunity.”
