Georgia Republican Clay Fuller, a former district attorney, defeated Democrat Shawn Harris in a special runoff election Tuesday to fill Georgia's 14th Congressional seat left vacant after Marjorie Taylor Greene's early exit from the U.S. House in January.
Greene resigned from her seat after clashing with President Donald Trump, a previous ally, over the administration's handling of the Epstein Files.
Fuller's win was key to the Republican Party maintaining its majority in Congress as the midterm elections loom, with the potential for several flipped seats. The district, to be represented by Fuller, has never been held by a Democrat.
The Trump-endorsed Republican beat out Harris by an over 10% margin, winning a little under 56% of the vote compared to Harris' 44%, according to the Associated Press.
Just after the results were announced, Fuller thanked Trump for his support throughout the campaign, and later said he wouldn't have won the seat without him.
Thank you, President Trump, for your endorsement and support throughout this race.

Fuller won nine of the 10 counties represented in the 14th Congressional district, which primarily encompasses rural areas in northwest Georgia. Harris captured more votes than Fuller in the more liberal Cobb County, which is the closest part of the district to Atlanta.
This is a far-cry from the original March 10 election, during which Harris recieved 2% more of the vote than Fuller, with 37% and 35%, respectively. However, the Republican field had several more candidates than the Democratic field.
Almost 130,000 Georgians turned out to vote in the election Tuesday, compared to the just under 115,000 who showed up to cast their ballots in the March 10 election.
Fuller will still need to run for re-election in the November midterms to secure a full two-year term.
Harris said the voters need to focus on November now.
Leadership matters.
We came up short tonight, but look at what we built. This was a fair, hard-fought race, and we’re closer than ever.
If we show up and make our voices heard, we win.
