President Donald Trump confirmed the launch of "Operation Epic Fury" over the weekend, and Georgia Republicans are resoundingly backing the strikes against Iranian regime targets and strategic installations.

"Operation Epic Fury" has divided lawmakers, with support and criticism largely split along party lines. While Republicans overwhelmingly support the strikes, Democrats have overwhelmingly criticized them.

Georgia Republicans are no different, praising the President for taking on the Iranian regime and strengthening America’s position as a global power. To them, President Trump acted within his constitutional right against an undeniable threat.

Reactions

Representative Rich McCormick (R-GA07) argued that America is now in a stronger position to lead, especially since Iran’s threat capabilities have largely been neutralized.

Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA10) proclaimed that America will no longer stand idly as our enemies plot against us. He called for prayers as our servicemembers prepare for the worst.

Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA01) issued a lengthy statement in which he argued that the President acted within his constitutional right and discussed Iran’s failure to negotiate properly.

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA09) discussed the larger context of this conflict, pointing out Iran’s continued threat to America in the form of assassination attempts and sponsored terrorism.
