Political outsider and multi-billionaire Rick Jackson launched his campaign for Governor of Georgia this week. The new Republican candidate enters a competitive field alongside Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones, Attorney General Chris Carr, and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

Jackson’s campaign got off to a strong start on X, with his campaign sharing posts advertising the candidate and his policy proposals. The campaign also released video advertisements explaining the candidate’s background and motivation for running.

According to the media shared, Jackson grew up rough and moved from job to job, barely earning enough to get by. Eventually, he built a $3 billion business and is now using $50 million to fund his own campaign. With that wealth, he wants to challenge those he calls 'career politicians' and lead Georgia without any strings attached.

Jackson has received a couple of noteworthy endorsements. One supporter is Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-GA), who praised him as a "remarkable business leader."

He was also endorsed by the Job Creators Network, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to representing and voicing the concerns of small businesses. The organization endorsed Jackson for having a firsthand understanding of economics and his willingness to represent small businesses.

The new candidate’s flagship policies are mostly economic and his mission as governor is to make Georgia the "most affordable state in America." Jackson plans on making this a reality by freezing property taxes, slashing the income tax, and shrinking the government.
