Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA), alongside Representatives Nikema Williams (D-GA05) and Lucy McBath (D-GA06), is demanding answers and an immediate briefing from the Department of Justice (DOJ) following last week’s FBI raid of the Fulton County elections center.

The FBI’s raid follows a years-long suspicion of Georgia officials and voters after President Donald Trump lost the state in the 2020 election. Despite independent evaluations, the president has continued to remain suspicious of the outcome.

In a new oversight letter sent to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Sen. Warnock and the representatives highlighted their expectations of full compliance with federal law and regulations concerning the handling of evidence.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was also seen in Fulton County at the time of the operation, which has sparked suspicions regarding her role.

The Inquiry

In their inquiry, the lawmakers shared their grave concern over the FBI’s activities. They claimed that the warrant for this search was filed under suspicious circumstances involving the dismissal of a special agent and a separate district court.

The lawmakers reasserted that the 2020 General Election in Fulton County has been repeatedly recognized as accurate and secure. These evaluations were completed by numerous election officials, judges, and Former Attorney General William Barr.

Following this, the lawmakers pivoted to President Trump and his activity regarding the 2020 election outcome.

“We are deeply concerned that President Trump’s consistent spreading of misinformation and dangerous conspiracy theories about the 2020 election fundamentally undermines the electoral process, endangers election workers, and erodes public trust in our democracy,” they explained. “This unprecedented seizure only heightens those concerns.”

The lawmakers expressed their expectation of transparency and full compliance with federal law.

A formal request was then made for the AG’s office to provide a full briefing on this activity.
