Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA) recently sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel, urging the Department of Justice (DOJ) to continue its work and determine the fraud connected to childcare programs.
According to Carter, this fraud may also involve improper political financial contributions towards Democratic fundraising platforms, such as ActBlue, which earmarked funds for Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA).
Minnesota social service programs have been defrauded by an estimated $9 billion, with nearly 100 individuals charged in these schemes so far. Recent reporting exposes concerns that taxpayer dollars flowing through childcare centers have been diverted to fundraising platforms and overseas terrorist organizations, including ISIS.
The letter begins with Carter commending the DOJ for its efforts to investigate and stop widespread fraud in Minnesota’s social services program. He further encouraged them to continue and expand the scope of the investigation to involve political entities.
The Representative cited recent accomplishments, stating, “Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and the tireless efforts of the Department of Justice, federal officials have reportedly identified as much as $9 billion in suspected fraud tied to Minnesota social service programs, with nearly 100 individuals charged to date.”
Carter speculated that this fraudulent activity may have been replicated in other states, implicating Democratic representatives. He cites records released by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) that show a plethora of political contributions made by childcare facilities.
“For example, FEC data from 2025 appears to reflect political contributions attributed to an entity identified as 'Atomic Daycare' in Michigan, including donations processed through ActBlue and earmarked for federal candidates, including Jon Ossoff,” Carter argued. “If accurate, this raises the question of whether fraudulently obtained public funds were laundered into political donations, in violation of federal law.”
For Carter, this is a question of integrity and maintaining the legitimacy of America’s political process.
“Determining whether taxpayer dollars were misused for political purposes is essential to protecting the integrity of federal programs and public elections,” he concluded.
