The 2026 senatorial race in Georgia is expected to be hotly contested, and Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) is going to need as much support as he can get against competitors like Representatives Mike Collins (R-GA), Buddy Carter (R-GA), and political outsider Derek Dooley.
The Senator is rumored to receive financial support from a left-wing dark money group called the Sixteen Thirty Fund. According to a recently released tax filing, the group invested $860,000 in Georgia’s elections in 2024.
The donations were made to the following groups:
- $150,000 to Black Male Voter Project
- $100,000 to Black Voters Matter Fund Inc.
- $125,000 to Collective Renaissance Action
- $62,000 to Democracy Program Inc.
- $25,000 to Future Georgia
- $100,000 to Progress Georgia Inc.
- $50,000 to Represent GA Action Network Inc.
- $250,000 to Asian American Advocacy Fund Inc.
It’s important to note that the Sixteen Thirty Fund is backed by George Soros, a prominent donor of left-wing groups and the Chair of the Open Society Foundation, who also funded Ossoff’s campaign in 2020.
The group has also backed movements nationwide to engage in left-wing activism and protests, like MoveOn.org, which orchestrated anti-DOGE protests and promoted anti-police messaging in 2020.
Another example is the Sunrise Movement, a left-wing environmentalist group whose mission is to abolish the use of fossil fuels. This group has also earned the ire of Alex Soros, George Soros's son, for talking too much about Israel’s conflict with Palestine.
The Sixteen Thirty Fund also works to influence the narrative on social media by paying left-wing influencers $8,000 per month to push certain talking points. The most notorious example of this is influencer Olivia Julianna, who received significant backlash for receiving this support.
The group has also worked extensively to undermine President Donald Trump’s agenda by funding protests against his crackdown on crime in D.C. and his 2017 tax cut legislation. Its influence is especially felt in swing states, and there’s no doubt at this point that Ossoff is poised to receive their support in his upcoming senatorial race.
