President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order ensuring that artificial intelligence (AI) models used by the Federal government prioritize ideological neutrality. This executive order comes as a response to AI that has been used to promote woke ideology.

President Trump’s new order directs agency heads to use AI models that adhere to neutrality and truth-seeking principles. It also directs Budget Director Russell Vought to issue guidance for agencies implementing AI.

The new order mandates that contracts between Federal agencies and AI entities ensure compliance with these new principles.

According to the White House, this new order is meant to protect the integrity of information and services available to the American people. They explain how ideological biases can distort AI outputs, undermining historical and scientific accuracy.

This new order is part of President Trump’s long-term plan to eliminate DEI across the federal government and advance American leadership in AI development.

The response from Republicans has been mostly positive, with some exceptions. Notably, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) expressed concern with a lengthy statement on X.

Rep. Greene’s primary concern is that the order demands rapid expansion of AI capability without enough guardrails. Human jobs and rights could be threatened without proper AI restrictions in place.

Strangely enough, the order also threatens to withhold federal funds from states that regulate AI. Rep. Greene criticized this provision as a threat to federalism and strongly opposes it.

Then, there is the environmental impact to consider. AI requires a large amount of computing power, which requires the construction and expansion of data centers.

Water supply is also a crucial component to consider. AI data centers require a massive amount of water for cooling systems that won’t be available for other purposes.

Rep. Greene went on to predict that water wars between states will only worsen, and counties will be forced to compete with each other.

Rep. Greene also responded to the idea that the U.S. needs to do this to compete with China. She stated, “Competing with China does not mean become like China by threatening state rights, replacing human jobs on mass scale creating mass poverty, and creating potentially devastating effects on our environment and critical water supply.”

Rep. Greene concluded by stating that this executive order is hasty and unfit to address the issue of AI advancement.
