Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) has collaborated with other lawmakers to introduce the Veterans Health Care Stamp Act of 2025. The bill directs the United States Postal Service to issue and sell a stamp that will fund medical care and treatment for veterans.
According to the bill, for every stamp sold, proceeds will be contributed to an account within the Department of Veterans Affairs. One of the billโs primary purposes is to provide the public with a convenient way to contribute to health care services for veterans.ย
Rep. Carter labeled the bill โcommon-sense legislationโ and praised it for enabling the improvement of healthcare for veterans.
โThis common-sense legislation will provide additional support to our heroic veteran community for the sacrifices they have made in defense of our country,โ stated Rep. Carter. โWith this bill, we will increase the quality, accessibility, and affordability of health care for our nationโs veterans, fulfilling our promise to defend them as fully as they defended us.โย
The bill is a bipartisan effort and was introduced by two Republicans and two Democrats. Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) commented on the importance of this bill. โI served as an Army Ranger in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a veteran, caring for our veterans is personal to me,โ stated Rep. Crow. โIโm proud to introduce this bipartisan legislation to help support the VA health system and provide better care for those who have served our country.โย
This bill was introduced in the House back in 2023 as House Resolution 6374, but failed to make it to the floor. It was referred to both the Committee on Oversight and Accountability and the Committee on Veteransโ Affairs.ย
