Governor Brian Kemp announced that companies, Ti Cold and Karis Cold, have officially broken ground on a new $60 million cold storage facility for PermaCold Logistics in McIntosh County. A press release from the Governorโ€™s Office revealed that the new industrial cold storage facility is expected to create 50 jobs upon completion.

Gov. Kemp described this as the largest known instance of economic development for McIntosh County.ย โ€œCompanies like Ti Cold, Karis Cold, and PermaCold Logistics, as well as our reliable and fast-growing ports and highway systems, support logistics industry jobs in every corner of the state,โ€ Gov. Kemp stated. โ€œI'm grateful for the decision to open this facility and bring even more jobs to hardworking rural Georgians.โ€

The company, TI Cold, provides a suite of cold storage construction and development services, including complete design and engineering, master site planning, operations guidance, and consulting services. TI Cold also helps companies navigate challenges associated with a rapidly changing cold storage industry.ย

Founder and CEO of Ti Cold, Sam Tippmann, commented on the news, stating it was a privilege to build in Georgia over the years.

โ€œThe support weโ€™ve received has been incredible โ€“ from the state officials to the team in McIntosh County, and the City of Darien,โ€ Tippman stated. โ€œWe are truly excited to bring this beautiful facility to your community and look forward to contributing to its continued growth.โ€ย

The new facility in McIntosh will be located at Tidewater Industrial Park, a Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development site. The facility will have a height of 50 feet and feature a convertible design that maintains temperatures ranging from 40 degrees to minus 10 degrees Ft.ย

The facility will also incorporate an environmentally friendly refrigeration system. Additionally, it will contain structural steel pallet racks accommodating over 30,000 pallet positions.

Chairwoman of the McIntosh County Board of Commissioners, Kate Pontello Karwacki, called the development โ€˜groundbreakingโ€™ and โ€˜transformational.โ€™

โ€œTi Cold and Karis Coldโ€™s investment in our community is a strong endorsement of the assets we offer from our strategic location along the I-95 corridor and proximity to the Ports to the welcoming business climate weโ€™re committed to fostering, โ€œ Karwacki commented. โ€œThis project not only brings high-quality jobs and economic opportunity but also strengthens the industrial foundation weโ€™ve been working hard to build.โ€
