After President Donald Trump’s military action against Iran and its nuclear sites, most Republicans united in praise and support. However, Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-R) and Thomas Massie (KY-R) stand out as the two most notable outliers.

Both representatives came out strongly against further involvement in the conflict between Israel and Iran. They had different reasons, but the common idea is that the U.S. derives no benefit from foreign conflicts.

Rep. Thomas Massie outright called the bombing of the nuclear sites ‘unconstitutional,’ and has gone so far as to introduce a new War Powers Resolution. Massie did this to include Congress in the process, and he wants a vote to be taken on the matter.

Massie stated, “Our War Powers Resolution has 57 cosponsors. Whether you like it or not Congress will be voting on U.S. hostilities in Iran.”

Massie also responded to President Trump when he floated the idea of regime change on Truth Social. Trump rejected the term ‘regime change’ and suggested the phrase ‘Make Iran Great Again.’ Massie outright said that this rhetoric was not ‘America First.’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene released a long statement discussing a myriad of issues the U.S. currently faces. The overarching idea is that involvement in foreign wars is a waste of time and resources.

Greene first brings up the southern border when she states, “I don’t know anyone in America who has been the victim of a crime or killed by Iran, but I know many people who have been victims of crime committed by criminal illegal aliens or MURDERED by Cartel and Chinese fentanyl/drugs.”

Greene also mentions the $37 trillion of debt facing the country right now. She stated, “America is $37 TRILLION in debt and all of these foreign wars have cost Americans TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS of dollars that never benefited any American.”

In Greene’s statement, she clarifies that Israel has the right to defend itself, but it should do so on its own. According to her, America simply has too many problems to solve before it can get involved in another foreign war.

Greene concludes by reaffirming her loyalty to President Trump and his administration. She simply disagrees with this military action.
