The House of Representatives just passed the first DOGE rescissions package. Georgia Republicans rallied to support the package and advocate for more bills just like it.

House Resolution (HR) 4, also known as the Rescissions Act of 2025, was passed by the House. The bill codifies President Trump’s request to eliminate $9.4 billion in spending.

Specifically, HR 4 targets spending at the State Department, USAID, CPB, and other foreign aid programs. This is the first DOGE rescissions package as Republicans seek to codify as many cuts as possible.

Rep. Rich McCormick (R) discussed why this package was so important. He explained how these packages streamline government operations.

McCormick concluded, “As a fiscal conservative, I was proud to vote YES on this legislation that puts American taxpayers first and ensures a more efficient federal government. Glad to see we got this done!”

Rep. Mike Collins (R) posted an image of the vote count displaying how the bill passed 214-212. He commented, “The era of our tax dollars funding anti-American propaganda is over.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) celebrated the passage as well, but took a different approach. She saw it necessary to call out Republicans who voted against the package.

At first, six Republicans voted against it, but two of them switched their votes. If they had not switched, the bill would not have passed.

Greene commented, “DOGE CUTS PASSED!! Two R’s switched. Here are the Republican NO votes to cutting USAID, NPR, and PBS!! Unreal.”

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R) advocated for the package in the days leading up to the vote. He posted a long thread on X with examples of wasteful spending.

Some of the spending is quite strange. For example, $3 million is allocated towards Iraqi Sesame Street. $500,000 is allocated towards electric buses in Rwanda. $1 million is allocated towards voter ID in Haiti. One that sticks out is the $135 million contribution to the World Health Organization.

Clyde concluded, “House Republicans just passed our first round of DOGE cuts. Yet the $9.4 billion rescissions package is just the beginning. We must codify ALL of President Trump and DOGE’s cuts. Pedal down.”
