The House of Representatives passed three new bills, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Gulf of America Act. The other bills addressed crime and higher education. Specifically, the bills addressed organ harvesting and higher education’s relationship with Chinese entities.

First, the House passed House Resolution (HR) 1503, also known as the Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act. This bill requires the President to impose sanctions on persons involved in forced organ trafficking

HR 1503 authorizes the Department of State to deny or revoke the passports of individuals convicted of crimes related to organ trafficking. The bill also requires the President to report to Congress with a list of people who facilitate forced organ harvesting or traffic those involved.

Second, the House passed HR 881, also known as the DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes and Chinese Entities of Concern Act. The bill restricts funding to an institution of higher education (IHE) with a relationship with a Confucius Institute or some other Chinese entity of concern.

HR 881 requires the DHS to classify any IHEs engaged in this practice as ineligible for federal funding. While the bill focuses on educational entities, it is a national security bill.

Finally, the House passed HR 276, also known as the Gulf of America Act. The bill is pretty simple.

HR 276 renames the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. Consequently, it directs federal agencies to update their documents and maps to incorporate the new name.

HR 276 is one of the first bills passed to codify an executive order from President Trump

Greene took to X to celebrate the passage of her bill. She expressed how it is an attempt to honor the American military, businesses, and nation as a whole.

Greene stated, “This is one of President Trump’s MANY executive orders that needs to be codified into law. I now urge my colleagues in the Senate to pass this bill and send it straight to President Trump’s desk!”

Rep. Mike Collins also celebrated the passage of the bill. Collins stated, “We’re done honoring a country that’s sponsored the invasion of our southern border. America First.”
