Georgia leaders from the state and the House have been busy meeting with important people. Technology and regulation were the subjects of discussion as they affect the state and the nation overall.
First, Rep. Rich McCormick (R) met with the co-founder and CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang. McCormick met with Huang to discuss policy on artificial intelligence and export controls.
This meeting left an impact on McCormick as he went on to address the Secretary of Commerce about export policy.
McCormick stated on X, “ We discussed the future of AI policy and export controls. This week, I wrote a letter to Secretary of Commerce Lutnick calling on him to withdraw BIS Rule 00636, a rule that would prevent American companies from selling advanced technology to growing markets.”
Second, Rep. Brian Jack (R) welcomed the Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, to Spalding county. Jack did this as a way to celebrate the repeal of Biden-era energy regulation.
Jack claimed that this regulation threatened a manufacturing plant in the county. He invited Wright to tour the facility with him as a show of solidarity.
Jack commented on X, “Rinnai America Corporation hosted us at its state-of-the-art facility where tankless water heaters are built. Joe Biden’s Department of Energy wanted to BAN these water heaters, but, working across the aisle, I led the bipartisan fight to REPEAL this regulation and save hundreds of jobs in our District.”
Finally, Gov. Brian Kemp welcomed the administrator of the EPA, Lee Zeldin, to Georgia. The intention of the visit was to meet with local farmers and discuss industry regulation.
Kemp appealed to Zeldin as an attempt to assist Georgia’s farming industry.
He stated on X, “We discussed how his agency is focused on supporting our No. 1 industry by reducing harmful and over burdensome regulations enacted by the previous administration that have hurt our ag industry and farming families.”
The activity of Georgia lawmakers continues to be remarkable. When they are not leading legislative initiatives, they are engaging in community outreach.
