Georgia lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have been working on a multitude of projects. Republicans have collaborated with their colleagues to secure new initiatives. Democrats have launched investigations and secured necessary resources.

First, Rep. Rich McCormick (R) has joined up with other congressmen on the issue of visa renewals. In a letter to the Department of State, they pushed for expanding domestic visa renewals.

The lawmakers advocated for this for H-1B and other low-risk visa holders. McCormick commented on X, “It's time to modernize our visa system by reducing costs, boosting efficiency, and keeping America competitive.”

Second, Rep. Mike Collins (R) led a group of House Republicans to appeal to Attorney General Pam Bondi. They sent a letter advocating for the creation of a task force to investigate and prosecute those who commit staged accident fraud.

This initiative is a response to the growing problem of insurance fraud in the transportation sector. Collins commented, “These fraudsters need to be held accountable for making every one of us less safe on the roads.”

Third, Senator Jon Ossoff (D) has urged the Trump administration to ensure that VA mass firings don’t impact Georgia veterans. He has contacted the Atlanta VA medical center about the issue.

On top of this, the Inspector General of the VA identified staffing shortages at the Atlanta office. Ossoff commented on why the issue is so important. He stated, “We want to ensure that no veteran will receive delayed care or face barriers to access care. To do so would betray the sacred compact we make with those who wear the uniform and undermines faith in our institutions.”

Finally, Lucy McBath has secured funding for transportation projects in the state of Georgia. The projects listed on X concern MARTA, Gwinnett County, and Akers Mill.

McBath commented, “Infrastructure investments make life as safe and smooth as possible for families across Georgia.”

The activity of Georgia lawmakers is something to note. When they are not legislating, they are working on some other project.
