Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) did not mince words when speaking about Representative Anna Paulina Luna's (R-FL) attempt to allow proxy voting for new mothers and fathers who also serve in the House. Nine Republicans, including Rep. Luna, ended up voting with Democrats to allow new parents to vote by proxy.
Those against the idea of paternal proxy voting argue it is unconstitutional and not respectful of the job voters placed their representatives to do. Moreover, Republicans argue the measure could be a slippery slope, making it easier to bring forth proxy voting in the future, which Democrats could potentially abuse.
Rep. Greene spoke to the media on the steps of the Capitol.
Governor Brian Kemp (R) has announced that he is ready to sign two major bills passed out of the Georgia House and Senate. The first one is House Bill (HB) 192 and the second one is Senate Bill (SB) 69.
HB 192 amends Title 20 of the Annotated Code of Georgia, relating to education. Title 20 will now include specific references to programs included in the High-demand Career List.
The high-demand career list is published by the State Workforce Development Board. These references would be in the State Board of Education's career courses available to students in grades six through 12.
Kemp celebrated the passage of this bill and noted how it would help bolster Georgia’s workforce.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk - Border crossings are down 94% compared to this time last year because President Trump is enforcing our laws — it’s that simple.
Sen. Rev. Raphael Warnock - Cory Booker made history tonight. He now holds the record for longest Senate speech—previously set by a segregationist who tried and failed to stop the Civil Rights Act. For over 25 hours, Senator Booker stood for those who don’t have a voice. I couldn’t be more proud to call him my friend. Congratulations, brother.
