Senator Jon Ossoff (D) held a town hall in Marietta, GA recently to engage with his constituents. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) responded with sharp criticism over his conduct and comments.

Ossoff began his appearance by employing populist messaging. He stated that his highest obligation is to serve the people of Georgia.

Ossoff stated, “My job is to deliver for the state, and as bitterly divided and even hateful as American politics can seem and has seemed now for many years, I have found that the best way to deliver for Georgia in the U.S. Senate is to build decent and respectful bipartisan working relationships.”

Ossoff also took the opportunity to address the Trump administration’s actions regarding the CDC. He stated, “The war on the CDC is so foolish, so shorsighted, so without any rational policy justification that every single Georgian … should oppose it.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene responded to this town hall appearance with derision. She claimed that the town hall was only meant for those who voted for Ossoff.

According to Greene, no republican voters were notified that the town hall was going to take place. Greene alleges that this is because Ossoff is actually afraid to engage with them.

Greene stated, “I’m being told by Republicans all over the state of Georgia that Jon Ossoff did not notify his Republican constituents in GA that he was having a town hall this past weekend. What is Ossoff afraid of?? Totally staged event!! FAKE TOWN HALL!!!”

During the town hall, Ossoff responded to a voter who demanded something be done about Trump’s presidency. Specifically, the voter demanded that Trump be impeached.

Ossoff responded in agreement and stated that he would push for the House to be flipped. With democratic control of the House, an impeachment vote would not be out of the question.

Greene sharply criticized Ossoff for stating this and framed him as going against the will of Georgia.

Greene stated, “Georgia will not allow (Jon Ossoff) to have the opportunity to impeach and convict President Trump because Jon Ossoff is going to be a one term senator.”
