Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) led the charge recently on exposing more waste, fraud, and abuse. According to recent DOGE findings, billions of government funds have been allocated towards real estate and maintaining empty federal buildings.

Regarding the federal buildings, Greene commented on X. She stated, “$10 BILLION a year to maintain empty federal buildings… and for what? Most agency HQs are only 25% occupied yet taxpayers are forced to keep footing the bill.”

The representative’s solution to these wasted funds is to sell the property and make the money back. She again took to X to state, “Why would Biden sign a new 15 million dollar lease, for USAGM, while their current building sits underutilized? It’s time we cut back on this WASTE and IDENTIFY the properties that need to be sold.

Greene also revealed during a recent DOGE committee that $1 billion dollars was spent on furniture. commented on X how this kind of waste flies in the face of young Americans. She frames this kind of spending as a moral issue as well as an issue of waste.

Greene stated, “The federal government’s MASSIVE real estate portfolio and EXCESSIVE spending on luxury furniture has resulted in BILLIONS of dollars going to WASTE. While young Americans are struggling to buy homes, federal bureaucrats extravagantly spend money. Why shouldn’t the government ANSWER for their misspending?”

During the committee, Greene also revealed how much of this spending took place during the Biden administration.

This makes the spending worse because those funds should have been allocated towards Covid-19 relief.

Greene stated on X, “How is it that the Biden Administration spent $1 BILLION on furniture during COVID while government employees worked remotely and buildings were sitting empty? During a time when American families were STRUGGLING financially, Biden was focused on luxury furniture.”
