The House of Representatives recently passed the Senate amended budget resolution. The bill features large cuts to taxes and regulations, but its reception is mixed. Lawmakers are mostly split along party lines, especially those from Georgia.
Representative Mike Collins (R) sounded off on X about the resolution being historic. He claims it will prevent a massive tax hike and support workers.
Collins stated, “I proudly voted YES on the Budget Resolution that brings historic savings, prevents the largest tax increase in American history, and DELIVERS on promises to: Support American WORKERS, Help American small BUSINESSES, and Put MORE MONEY in your pockets.”
Representative Andrew Clyde (R) concurred with this sentiment and walked back his previous criticism of the bill. Clyde received assurance from his Senate counterparts that the $1.5 trillion spending cut will remain in the bill.
Clyde concluded, “As a fiscal hawk, I will hold both my House and Senate colleagues accountable in delivering on this promise. After all, we can—and must—achieve President Trump’s America First agenda in a fiscally responsible manner.”
The final Republican to comment on the resolution was Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. She lauded the bill as an effort to reconcile the House and Senate while implementing the MAGA agenda.
Greene stated, “Now it’s our turn! Reconciliation will be OUR agenda this time!! Reconciliation will be Energy, Border, and Tax laws and more that are much needed to send to President Trump’s desk.”
Senator Raphael Warnock (D) harshly criticized the budget resolution on X. He derided the bill as morally deficient and that it robs Americans in need.
Warnock stated, “Washington Republicans just voted to pass a budget that robs from the poor to pay the rich. If this budget were an EKG, it would suggest that this country is in need of moral surgery.”
Representative Hank Johnson (D) also criticized the resolution as a detriment to healthcare. He claimed that this bill would only benefit the top 1%.
Johnson stated, “I am voting NO on the (House GOP) budget. I will never cut healthcare and food assistance for hard working Americans to pay for another massive tax giveaway for (Donald Trump), (Elon Musk) and their billionaire buddies.”
