Georgia General Assembly Passes Bills on Public Safety, Motor Vehicles, and Technology 

A number of different bills within the Georgia General Assembly have been passed on to the Rules Committee. Committees from both the House and Senate of the Assembly participated in this process.

The Senate Public Safety Committee had a strong start with four different bills. They began with House Bill (HB) 238. This bill authorizes the creation of a new course of training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. 

This new course will teach first responders how to deal with people who have dementia or Alzheimer's related illnesses. It easily passed to the Rules Committee.

The second bill was HB 77. This bill would require oncoming traffic on two lane roads to pull over for a funeral procession. It passed unanimously.

Massie Agrees with Rubio, RFK Jr on Soda, Food Stamp Debacle

Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY), a self-described libertarian, has agreed with Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to ban sugary sodas within the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, commonly referred to as food stamps).

In other words, Rep. Massie believes that American taxpayer dollars should not fund unhealthy lifestyle choices for others.

To fully abolish the department however, Trump will need congressional approval. So far, lawmakers seem split on the decision, especially Georgia lawmakers.

Georgia House of Representatives and Senate Pass New Bills on Education — By Dome Politics' James Swafford — Both wings of the Georgia General Assembly passed bills focusing on young Georgians and their education. The House Education Committee and the Senate Youth and Education Committee passed a number of different bills.The Senate Youth and Education Committee was first and started with House Bill (HB) 307. This bill includes provisions on students who are at risk of not achieving grade level reading proficiency due to dyslexia.

State Department Continues Combatting Iran's Illicit Oil Sales — By Dome Politics' Mateo Guillamont — The US Department of State recently announced new sanctions against certain commercial entities for aiding Iran’s global illicit oil sales. Sanctions target a crude oil and petroleum products storage terminal in the port of Huizhou in China for allegedly receiving nearly one million barrels of Iranian crude oil.

Georgia House of Representatives Passes Bills On Health, Agriculture, and Higher Education — By Dome Politics' James Swafford — The Georgia House was busy today passing a number of bills out of its committees. Major bills were passed by committees focused on public health, agricultural policy, and higher education.

Chuck Schumer Faces Backlash From All Sides After Funding Bill Conflict — By Dome Politics' James Swafford — Senator Chuck Schumer (D) has faced an enormous amount of backlash following the passage of the GOP-drafted funding bill. Along with nine other democrats, Schumer decided to vote to pass the bill forward. Democrats from both the media and the party have come out to criticize him going along with the bill. A notable example comes from his appearance on the View when host, Sonny Hostin, chimed in. She said to him directly, “I think you caved.”

Trump Brokers Partial Ceasefire With Putin, Sets Up Future Talks — By Dome Politics' Mateo Guillamont — US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have brokered a partial ceasefire deal between Ukraine and Russia and agreed to schedule future negotiations for a full ceasefire. Presidents Trump and Putin reached the agreement during a highly anticipated phone call between the two leaders.
