Governor Brian Kemp Signs Landmark Budget Amendment for 2025
Thursday, Gov. Brian Kemp (R) signed the Amended Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 which will implement a multitude of reforms. The first major change to come with this budget is a statewide tax refund of $1 billion.
Kemp elaborated on X how this refund is meant to assist Georgians deal with “sky-high” prices. He stated, “We’re also proud of our partners in the State House for unanimously supporting this year’s special income tax refund, helping hardworking families fight through sky-high prices.”

State Sen. Tillery's Debanking Bill Fails Despite Conservative Support
State Senator Blake Tillery's "Debanking" bill has failed in Georgia's upper chamber despite some significant conservative consideration. Debanking is a practice in which banks choose not to offer services to a potential or current customer if they can be deemed "high risk."
For example, bank accounts were closed in Canada after vaccine mandate protests, which caused major blowback.
