State Senator Blake Tillery's "Debanking" bill has failed in Georgia's upper chamber despite some significant conservative consideration. Debanking is a practice in which banks choose not to offer services to a potential or current customer if they can be deemed "high risk."
For example, bank accounts were closed in Canada after vaccine mandate protests which caused major blowback.
Chairman of the Republican Party Josh McKoon and Turning Point Action shared their support for State Sen. Tillery's bill aiming to protect consumers from potential debanking.
The final tally was 13-43.
Chairman McKoon mentioned that this bill stands as a roadblock to big banks looking to "silence" conservatives.

Moreover, Turning Point urged Georgia residents to call on their elected officials to vote yes on the bill.

In January, the U.S. House Oversight Committee, led by Representative James Comer (R-KY), launched an investigation into the debanking of First Lady Melania Trump.
State Sen. Tillery held up Melania's book on the floor of the Senate, using it as an example of how anyone can be debanked.
