In a recent exchange with a reporter, President Trump expressed his opinion on NPR and PBS receiving taxpayer funds. Trump stated that the funds were wasted on biased entities like them.
On the question of defunding them, he stated, “I would love to do that. I think it's very unfair, it's been very biased — the whole group... the kind of money that's being wasted, and it's a very biased view."
Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) concurred with the President. Then, she confronted NPR and PBS executives at a recent DOGE Committee hearing.
When Greene spoke to the CEO of NPR , she highlighted the biased perspectives expressed by the CEO. Greene stated, “You called [Trump] a deranged racist and sociopath. You posted…America is addicted to white supremacy. You've publicly chastised using the phrase boy and girl. There's only two genders, by the way."
Greene commented on the situation with a flurry of posts highlighting the necessity of defunding NPR and PBS. She accused them of pushing democratic talking points and polarizing the country with their coverage.
She stated, “President Trump is right! NPR and PBS have wasted millions of taxpayer dollars pushing Democrat talking points and alienating over half the country.”
Greene made her point during the committee and showcased a video that had been published to the PBS website. The video targeted children aged three-eight, but featured a drag queen singing a rhyme.
Green said the content was “repulsive.” She stated on X, “This is the sick propaganda PBS uses to brainwash our kids with your money. CEO Paula Kerger lied when she claimed it aired by accident by only a local affiliate.”
On X, she vowed to keep up the fight. Greene stated, “Yes sir, Mr. President! We will defund NPR and PBS!! The American people will NOT pay for disgusting Democrat propaganda anymore!!”
