After the tense meeting between President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, many lawmakers went to social media to voice their opinion on how the Ukrainian President was treated. The reaction has been divided and mostly along party lines, with Republicans praising Trump and Democrats criticising the conduct as ‘embarrassing.’

Georgia lawmakers were no exception, and the division is driven mostly along party lines. Senator Jon Ossof (D) quickly voiced his concern and stated that the President’s conduct was disgraceful.

The meeting was a disgraceful spectacle as the world watched the President attempt to publicly humiliate a man leading his nation’s self-defense against brutal military aggression.” - Ossof

On the other hand, House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed support for how Trump and Vance handled the meeting. Greene expressed how they put America first by putting Zelensky in his place due to his frequent disrespect towards the Oval Office.

President Trump and Vice President Vance will put America First every single time. Putting Zelensky in his place while he disrespects the U.S. in the Oval Office is exactly what American leadership should look like. This is what We The People want to see!” - Greene

House Representative Mike Collins also expressed support for Trump and Vance’s treatment of Zelensky.

“Thank God we finally have a (President of the United States) who is willing to put America FIRST. Blessed are the peacemakers.” - Collins

Lt. Gov. Burt Jones also came out on X to praise Trump for how he handled the meeting and how Zelensky is in the wrong for expecting the same treatment he received from President Biden.

“(The President of the United States) ran on putting America First, and he was 100% right to put us first in today’s meeting with President Zelensky. President Trump is ready to make a deal to end this war, but President Zelensky needs to realize the days of blank American checks from Joe Biden are over. America will always stand for freedom and has supported Ukraine more than any other country in the world. The war needs to end and President Trump is trying to make that happen," said Jones.
