State Sen. Bill Cowsert: GA State Legislature 'Fine-Tuning' 2025 Budget

This week, Senate members met in their respective Appropriations Subcommittees to discuss the House’s budgetary recommendations for the Supplemental Budget, often referred to as the “Little Budget.” The fiscal year for Georgia begins on July 1 each year and concludes on June 30, however, adjustments are made each year at the midpoint of the year. This supplemental budget increases spending if revenues are greater than expected or reduces spending if revenues are lower than projected. In the coming weeks, we will continue fine-tuning the 2025 budget to ensure that taxpayer money is spent wisely and efficiently and then plan the “Big Budget” for the 2026 fiscal year which begins July 1, 2025.
