Lt. Governor Burt Jones (R-GA) responded to the allegation made by Environmental Protection Agency Director (EPA) Lee Zeldin and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) that $2 billion in taxpayer funds were earmarked for a Stacey Abrams-linked non-profit.

Stacey Abrams, a Democrat and former Georgia State Representative, ran against now-Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA) twice and lost both times.

According to the report shared by the Washington Free Beacon, Abrams' Power Forward Communities organization received $2 billion from the Biden administration despite only reporting $100 in revenue in its first three months of operation.

"I made a commitment to members of Congress and to the American people to be a good steward of tax dollars and I’ve wasted no time in keeping my word," Zeldin mentioned to the Washington Free Beacon. "When we learned about the Biden Administration’s scheme to quickly park $20 billion outside the agency, we suspected that some organizations were created out of thin air just to take advantage of this."

EPA Director Zeldin also shared that this revelation of "waste and abuse" is "extremely concerning" as more facts unfold.

"As we continue to learn more about where some of this money went, it is even more apparent how far-reaching and widely accepted this waste and abuse has been," the EPA administrator continued. "It’s extremely concerning that an organization that reported just $100 in revenue in 2023 was chosen to receive $2 billion. That’s 20 million times the organization’s reported revenue."

In response, Lt. Gov. Jones shared that the "scam" allegedly committed by Abrams and her non-profit has now come to light thanks to President Donald Trump (R) and Elon Musk's DOGE initiative.

"Stacey Abrams has been running a scam on Georgians for years. Joe Biden allowed her to take the scam to a new level. Thanks to @POTUS and @Elonmusk, the grift has been exposed," said Jones.

The Peach State's second-in-command recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Dome Politics and discussed Georgia's efforts to cut waste and spending in the state government. Donned the Red Tape Rollback Act of 2025, Lt. Gov. Jones' bill follows in the footsteps of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative at the federal level.

Lt. Gov. Jones reintroduced the Red Tape Rollback Act of 2025 in January at the beginning of the legislative session.
